Bernie’s first night: Luxury and laughter at the empress hotel

Hello, dear readers! Today, let's turn the pages back to Bernie's first night with me. As luck would have it, we spent this memorable night at the luxurious Empress Hotel, a pet-friendly gem in the heart of Victoria, BC. This wasn't the plan, but then again, with Bernie, life often has a delightful way of going off-script.

I was supposed to have the night to myself to prepare for Bernie’s arrival. However, the foster family asked if I could pick him up a day early. How could I say no? And just like that, Bernie, my six-month-old puppy brimming with infectious energy and a personality as big as his soon-to-be-discovered love for luxury beds, was with me.

Bernie was, and always has been, the friendliest dog you could ever meet. Whether it was riding in an elevator for the first time or encountering hotel staff, his tail never stopped wagging. His enthusiasm for life is downright contagious, and it wasn't long before he had charmed everyone at the hotel, from the concierge to the housekeeping staff. It's as if everyone's hand naturally reached out to pat his ever-smiling face, drawn by his canine charisma.

I had no idea what to expect that first night, but what unfolded was a scene straight out of a heartwarming comedy. There was Bernie, sprawled luxuriously on our 800 thread count hotel sheets, a look of blissful contentment on his face. He didn't just stake a claim on the bed, he annexed the entire thing as if it was the most natural thing in the world. If you need proof, take a look at this picture of him, looking like the 'King of Comfort', ruling his soft, plush kingdom with a wagging tail and a satisfied sigh.

Bernie's happiness isn't just for himself. It's infectious, it spreads to every person and fellow dog he meets. He has an uncanny ability to lighten up the room and fill it with joy, turning simple moments into lasting memories. Our first night together at The Empress Hotel wasn't just a night, it was the start of a journey of endless laughs, boundless love, and heartwarming companionship.

As I drifted off to sleep that night, with Bernie snuggled next to me, I knew one thing for certain: Bernie wasn't just a dog I rescued, he was a friend who rescued me, every day, from the mundane. And as I closed my eyes, I couldn't help but wonder what adventures lay ahead for us.

And, dear readers, you won't have to wait long to find out. Our next post is about Bernie discovering the absolute joy of sofas. Yes, you read that right. If you thought the 800 thread count sheets were something, wait until you see Bernie claiming his comfy throne. Until then, stay pawsitive!
